Water Divining

This is also referred to as “dowsing” or “water witching”. I’ve included this subject but I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of it. But it is a perfect example of something which we don’t understand, and yet it works. So, for that reason, it qualifies for this website!

So, I did some searching online (artificial intelligence but human version!) and found this article in The Guardian from 2023 which includes much evidence that it works, together with a typical sceptic’s view. And this latter view repeats the message running through this website, that people attempt to find explanations based on our current knowledge; that many people need an explanation where none exists. Haha, live with it!

The movement of the rods “rings a bell” with me when I think about what happens when I put my hands close together in the form of praying. I feel a force moving them together and apart as though there is a balloon between my hands. It is a spooky feeling because it feels like a force from outside my body, not just my muscles moving under the command of my brain.
