Christian Mystics

Recently, I read a book, The Tao of Physics. It took a similar line to that of John Polkinghorne, that science should not be a cold logical process, that in fact there is much in common between science and religion.

I used to think that mystics lived centuries ago but there are Christian mystics living now. A priest I know recommended a book, For Lovers of God Everywhere. It is edited by Roger Housdon, who writes a comment after each section – many are poems. He once said words to the effect that these days, the Christian religion is too literal, too pat, whereas the world around us is a huge mystery. But people in general don’t like mysteries, they want facts.
